Structural Editing
Structural Editing involves assessing and shaping written material to improve its organization and content. This type of editing generally occurs in the draft stage of writing and can be combined with developmental editing and/or coaching services.
English-language Structural Editing services include the following:

Assessing the overall organization and content of the material to determine its suitability for the intended audience, medium, market, and purpose;

Reorganizing material to achieve a coherent structure and sequence, a logical progression of ideas, and a narrative or expository flow;

Recommending headings and navigation aids to clarify or highlight the organization of material (e.g., adding or reorganizing sidebars and pull quotes);

Suggesting additions, revisions, or deletions to meet length requirements;

Flagging instances of questionable accuracy, inadequate research, imbalanced content, and/or lack of focus; and
-
Flagging information or images that may require permissions (e.g., for quotations, visual elements, audio).
